While Quickbooks may dominate the realm of small business accounting software in the US, Tally 9 is quickly becoming a fierce competitor, especially in the international market.

As a small business owner, it is important to find a software solution that can not only manage the accounting aspects of the business, but integrate related areas such as sales, marketing, inventory and others.

Today’s changing economy demands reliable software that will not only streamline the process, but not break the bank either.

What is Tally 9?

It is small business software designed for today’s global business environment. The software affords many small business owners several benefits, including:

Multi-Language ability: You can input accounts, then view them and print them in any language you choose. In addition, you can do all this at the same time. No need to worry about other users across the map trying to access the same information as you at the same time.

Payroll: An advanced payroll system can automatically calculate an employee’s salary and generate check stubs.

POS invoices: Supports barcoding, and you can print in 40-column stationery. Also supports faster entry of data.

Use it for all your companies: Use the same software for multiple companies. No separate version for each company is needed.

Advantages of Using a Fully Integrated Software Package

When you use multiple software packages to keep track of your business’ many operations your chances for error are numerous. It requires more training for the employees using it, and double work for those doing the data entry. You will have to run several different reports and compare the databases against each other to make sure figures and results are accurate.

When using a fully-integrated software package such as Tally 9, errors and double work are virtually eliminated. You don’t have spend costly hours training on and configuring multiple systems or be concerned with them working well with each other.

This software is both affordable and easy-to-use. Check it out today.

By: Blake Allen

If you are an entrepreneur that runs a small company, you undoubtedly know that two of your most precious resources are time and money. A good program can go a long way in helping you manage both of these resources, and small business software reviews are a good place to turn before investing in a tool that will help you with your enterprise.

Many small organizations have only a couple of people to manage the day-to-day activities of accounting, payroll, inventory management, billing, marketing, and financial. In other words, if you are by yourself or with only one or two more people, it is like running a three-ring circus. Likewise, many times, entrepreneurs, while they have excellent business models, lack the knowledge and skills needed to run the day-to-day operations of an enterprise.

Using software to help you in these activities is obvious. There are some important guidelines to help you research the program that will best fit your company’s needs. It is important to access small business software reviews before investing.

The points you should consider are as follows:

Complexity of the product.

Required updates.

Level of customer service.

Price of the program in relation to your budget and the cost for maintenance of updating the software.

Extra components need to run it, including extra employees.

Before investing in a solutions tool, research your company’s needs. Research the various products available to meet those needs using the points mentioned above. Choose the best product for your budget. Using small business software reviews can help you with this task.

By: Hunter Ogletree

If you have a small business you know that you have to keep all of your financial records as organized as possible to ensure that you can make payroll accurately as well as file an accurate and timely tax return. There are many different programs for you to choose from, which can make the process of getting organized a bit overwhelming. Most programs today are very easy to use, and once you get the hang of it you can make payroll as well as tax payments very easy to deal with.

If you need help with payroll taxes you might want to look at a program such as QuickBooks. This program is manufactured by Intuit and is one of the leading programs for small businesses that need accounting software. There are several different versions available such as QuickBooks Basic, the QuickBooks Pro, as well as QuickBooks Premier. This online tax program has time tracking software that is nice, and the program is available for both Windows and Macintosh based computers. Many find that this has all of the features that they need because it allows them to do tracking, banking, invoicing, statements, and more all in one program.

Another great small business software is Small Business Money by Microsoft. This software has been created with business in mind and allows for users to create invoices, track spending, manage cash flow, handle payroll and so much more. There are different versions of this software available so that small business owners can find the version that best suits them and their specific needs. Many report that they like Money because it is very easy to use, without all kinds of extra bells and whistles that simply get in the way.

If you need help with payroll taxes and accounting you may also want to check out Peachtree. This is a great accounting software that will allow you to track spending, handle payroll, and do basic account management very easily. The software is meant to be used by small and medium sized companies and works much like Quicken and QuickBooks, though some prefer this program and its small differences that it has.

As you can see, there are many different programs on the market today that can help small and medium sized companies handle their payroll taxes and other day to day business maintenance. Many find that trial and error is the best way to find the program that works for them. Making a list of your basic needs will help you find the program that is best for you.

By: Caitlina Fuller

When it comes to small business, it’s never enough that you have the motivation and even the expertise. It’s also not enough that you have the right core staff who can help you manage the different aspects of your enterprise. You also need good small business software, which will allow you to automate your business, speed up the entire business process, and assure more accurate and fresh data that you can utilize.

Choices for Your Business

Today, there are a lot of small business software that you can select from, each having its own distinct functions. However, because of the uniqueness of your enterprise, not all will be useful. You only need to pick those that you think will be highly essential.

To give you some idea, you can start with the following small business software:

CRM Software. This software is important for contact management. You can easily manage information that is related to your customers, such as personal information. You can also easily determine the products and services they have purchased or enquired about, which then provide you data on what sells the most and what doesn’t amongst your line. Furthermore, you can keep track of your marketing campaigns generate reports and much more.

Lead Management System. When you are looking for prospects, you need to have a dependable lead manager. A lot of them are affordable, so you can get hold of them quite easily. The lead management system can help you keep track, score, and prioritize your leads. Also, lead managers can be customized according to the needs of the business and the industry you’re in.

Accounting Software. There are various types of financial applications that you could get for your business, but you may start with the accounting software since you want to determine the actual income and expenses of your business. However, unless you have solid or at least inkling of how accounting works, it would be ideal if you can pick an accounting program that is very easy to use. To know which will suit you it is advised you read online reviews.

E-mail Platforms. E-mail will be one of the best tools your business can have. You can market products and services through it, and you can communicate with your staff. With e-mail, you may want to stick with Microsoft Outlook, but remember that your valuable customer data will be housed in multiple computers and multiple email accounts.

It is important to understand that sometimes less is more. Try to implement the minimum number of solutions as they will require expensive integration to function effectively. If possible look for 1 sales system and 1 accounting system.

By: Manny De Sousa

1) Not Seeing the Future

Small business software can be tricky when it comes to buying different licenses. As your company grows, your software needs to be able to grow right along with it. Take a customer database for example. At first you have just a few clients, easily manageable with a small, free piece of software or even a spreadsheet. Suddenly, you have hundreds of clients with vital data to store regarding each one. Your software is overloaded and your spreadsheet looks like a bowl of Japanese alphabet soup. When you are choosing the software for your company, choose a software that is designed not just for small businesses, but mid sized businesses as well. Make sure that if it designed to hold employee data, that it can hold an unlimited number of employees without having to buy extra licenses. Also, if there are different levels of licenses available, don’t restrict yourself with a lower license just to save a few bucks, buy a license that will give you room to expand a little without breaking your budget.

2) No Support or Expensive Support

The software you will be using to run your small business will hold very important, time-sensitive information. Be it an invoice or payroll, the slightest computer glitch can cause your employees to be upset, customers to request refunds, and most importantly, money to be lost. When a server goes down the last thing you want to hear is your 20 year old tech guy say, “Sorry dude, looks like your data is pretty much toast.” Choose software that has a solid phone support system. Email support is affordable, but it usually takes 24 hours to get a reply. If your business is worth $200 an hour, how much is that really costing you? On the flip side, don’t pay an arm and a leg for phone support. Annual fees of $100-$200 are about average with per incident fees running about $50-$80 a pop. If someone wants to charge $200+ per incident or per hour for phone calls, be very weary. Their software better be perfection on a screen if it’s going to be worth it.

3) Not Trying it Before You Buy

What is the safest way to make sure you get the software you need with all the features your business demands? Download a demo BEFORE you buy! Nearly all software can be tried before you make a decision to purchase. If you don’t see a clear way to download a demo from their website, give them a call and request one. If they don’t offer one, ask them why and, unless they have a really good excuse, pick up the search again for your software. Demos are great for a lot of reasons. First, you can make sure that the data is compatible with your other programs (i.e. payroll with time tracking). Second, this gives you a chance to test it on your network and operating system to ensure full capability. Third, you can test their support when you encounter issues. If they are unwilling to help you get the demo running, this may be a sign of “monetary myopia” where they only help you once you have given them money. Not only does this show a sign a poor customer service but it shows a lack of confidence in their product.

By: Gregg Blanchard

Gone are the days when a small business had to be content with whatever software was available in the market.

Today, there are numerous small business software available which can be further tailored to meet the requirements of the client.

Log on to google and try looking up for small business software and you will come across hundreds and hundreds of companies that offer software. So which one should you choose for your company?

The answer to this question lies in another question.

What do you want from your small business? Is the business model primarily based online or has a much more pronounced offline existence?

The answer to this question alone can let you choose small business software easily. There are softwares that can be integrated with the existing applications that you use as well.

The ideal one

Just because yours is a small business doesn’t mean that you have to compromise on functionalities. The ideal small business software is the one that encompasses of features like communication, collaboration, billing, mails, sales, marketing and customer service.

It might seem like a lot of features to ask for, but there are precisely the ones that a small business requires to function effectively.

Apart from being able to create and share documents, task lists and new contacts, you must also be able to chat with your team members instantly.

When it comes to billing, the software must be able to handle tasks like tracking expenses, creating and sending invoices and accept credit card payments. This is all the more important when you have an e-commerce based business model.

Secure and safe

Finally when it is an online model, there must be a special emphasis on security so that all your business related data is safe and secure.

By: Rama Krishna

You might have the best and the most detailed business plan but unless you have the right small business software, your business will lack profitability as well as productivity.

Take accounting for example. Try and maintain all your accounts and records by hand and you will know how tedious the job can be. I am not saying that it cannot be done. It’s just that it takes too much time and requires meticulous precision.

Contrary to what most people believe, accounting software is not at all difficult to use. It is inexpensive too. So why shouldn’t your small business have accounting software?

I have heard all kind of answers to this question. Some say that it is too confusing to choose small business software. Others say they do not want to invest in training the staff to use the software.

Choose the very basic

The kind of software that you choose also depends on the size of your business. Most small businesses do not have very significant book keeping needs. Hence very basic small business software is ideal for them.

If you are outsourcing a major chunk of your accounting work, then you might have to choose a slightly advanced book keeping software. Learning to use the software properly is extremely necessary.

But nowadays, most software vendors take this into account and create extremely user friendly software. Even an amateur computer user can start using the software with as less as a few clicks.

If you have had trouble maintaining balance sheets, then consider it to be over. For small business accounting software will create sheets that will balance and highlight the errors.

Uses Galore

You can use the small business accounting software for much more than tracking the expenses and creating annual receipts. Even the most basic accounting software can generate payrolls, manage your taxes, print out various important forms and keep a track of the bills.

By: Rama Krishna

Small business software is a booming industry. Nowadays, every type of business needs to manage its movements and record every action using computer software. Business software is designed to help with the administration and maintenance of a business. Of course, small businesses are no exception to the rule.

Small businesses and corporations can use general purpose software, a custom implementation that meets their specific needs, or a hybrid that combines both elements. The choice of which approach to use depends on the type of business as well as the size of the economic budget that is going to be spent on organization via computer software.

One of the simplest ways for a business to start operating using computer software would be to use the free Open Office suite of applications, which is similar to MS Office. The difference is that Open Office is free while MS Office (Microsoft Office) costs a considerable amount of money for a small business.

Except for the two alternatives just described, a business can choose to hire a developer to “craft” software that meets the corporation’s very specific needs. This approach is the most costly one since the development cost of the application is going to be covered only by the corporation who ordered it.

Finally, small businesses can go about using ready-to-use applications as well as a few very specific custom ones that are developed specifically for the exact needs of the corporation. This approach is located somewhere between the first (less expensive) and the second (most expensive) choices.

By: Elizabeth Morgan

Small businesses face problems that are comparable with those of large companies, although on a smaller scale. To manage a small business effectively you need a small business software solution which will automate many of the tedious jobs you need to do. This type of software suite can automate several business tasks, especially in the areas of finance and customer communication, saving you time and keeping costs down.

No matter what type of small business you are running, there are some essential components of a small business software package which you should look for.

An Accounting Module. It is not really possible to manage all your credits and debits using a simple spreadsheet, at least not for long, so a business software package needs a comprehensive accounting module that lets you record all your financial transactions and enables you to analyze your financial situation. If it includes a module that helps you to file your annual tax return, so much the better. The software will need to generate and print invoices, run a payroll if necessary, handle VAT, and provide you with a balance sheet.

Activity and Expense Tracker. This is a smaller version of a large project management application. It is an efficient way to record expenses and time spent when doing business with and for clients, thus making the preparation and generation of bills a straightforward matter.

Contact Management. A robust contact management solution allows you to easily store and retrieve customer data using a database. You should also look for automatic sales letter generation, customer notification, and emailing functions in your small business software suite to make your life easier.

Inventory Manager. If you are involved in product sales, or simply have a lot of durable assets, then a simple inventory manager can save you hours of work. Along with sensible storage practices, with this function you can transform your home or small office into an organized mini-warehouse. Ideally, this module will be connected to other parts of the software allowing you to make purchasing decisions depending on stocked items.

If you are running a small business at home or elsewhere, using an integrated small business software package can minimize your day-to-day operational headaches.

By: Matt Angelus
